(1) Confirmation the structure of the optical unit according to your technical department. The tight-sleeve structure and the loose-sleeve structure have advantages and disadvantages during the practical engineering applications. Such as implementation conditions are poor, the external load is large, the road transportation conditions are poor, etc., Safety issues should be considered first, focusing on the resistance to break tension the OPGW cable. When the project conditions are good and the line length is long distance, it shall considering the optical loss should be minimized.
(2) Consider the compatibility of the OPGW cable and the lightning protection wire. The parameters such as outer diameter, weight, and maximum working tension of the OPGW cable are required to be similar to those of the original design of the tower, so that the loads and original design loads of the OPGW cable under severe wind, ice, and other adverse weather conditions do not change much and the tower is minimized.
(3) The OPGW cable should have high mechanical strength, the optical fiber will not be affected by the stress and increasing the transmission loss of light within the allowable tension range.
(4) Improve the electrical performance on OPGW cable and increase the short-circuit current capacity.
